Treasure Hunting - SF

Wally..long-time-no-blog. I know we have both been running around for months since our last job together on OurTime. I finally uploaded all the spots to my new website.

Well, my hair is still on fire..but with personal stuff now.

After 11 years in storage, I finally have reclaimed some beautiful pieces that I will share
with you over the next few weeks. Please note the "FRYE Boots" box in the photo above..
That's the real McCoy from my original Frye Boots circa 1975..just the box not the boots (bummer!)


Most of them are in need of some serious TLC.
At the moment, our house looks as though we have just moved in.
Right now it's a bit overwhelming... so much so that I felt the need to get some great style inspiration.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this site that Diane forwarded me from an art director friend.
It's call Pinterest...a great way to digitally scrapbook all your favorite things...and easily reference them.

I LOVE ABBOT KINNEY

Dunkle. how can this street keep getting better and better? and NOT ONE CHAIN STORE. Nanc said she'd had lunch at Hals with a friend - love Hals - and found some good shops and bought a thing or two. sad that i missed out on the excursion i had the chance to drop by the next day. i only had limited time but this is what i found:

At fiore i found great stuff for two bathrooms including a relative of the above bird (will document later). at Bohemian Exchange i found a great dress (somehow i only documented the jewelry) at a great price.

Bedroom update/LA

one of the first things any divorced woman should do is burn the marriage bed. chop it up, throw gas on it and ignite. my friend and brilliant designer Lorri Kline sat me in front of the computer and in two seconds we had ordered the Ikea Malm Bed. Tag line: Clean lines, Calm bedroom. sounds good to me (especially at $199). next stop Roberta Roller Rabbit sheets at the Brentwood Country Mart. inspired by the colors i painted a backdrop. finally i found the perfect lamps at Landon Cole Furniture. it's not always calm around here but my bedroom always makes me happy. especially when i shut the door.

Dunkle. long time no blog! i know that we are both loosing our minds being single moms and all BUT i have gotten a few respites. Memorial weekend i called my friend Melody. i needed to go somewhere special sans children with food, cocktails and great atmosphere. we ended up on La Brea at Tar Pit Restaurant. very chic. just what the doctor ordered. afterwards we walked the streets and window shopped. here are a few pics i took. i ended up going back to Landon Cole the next day and getting some key things for my house: lamps for my redesigned bedroom and pillows for evolving living room.

i want one. what is it?

hi wally, we are in the middle of a deluge of our own here in marin county. the rain is torrential, we've got major high winds and the flood siren just went off a couple of minutes ago..so keep those ideas on how to entertain your kids on a rainy day coming! you can be sure that jumping on the mattresses is not one of them...although desperate times may call for desperate measures. i will be sure and keep you updated on the weather front here.



FYI: just received the latest BLIK newsletter and wanted to be sure to pass this on to you and our readers. if you haven't heard of BLIK , be sure to check them out. BLIK creates removable wall graphics for the commitment phobic.



i liken BLIK to the ColorForms we had as kids...remember those? i can remember many a rainy day spending hours with my ColorForms. maybe that's why i'm so fascinated with these decals as an adult.

as a renter i am inherently drawn to items that are portable, modular, reasonably priced and can work in more than one setting...not too mention removable.





BLIK'S line of self-adhesive wall decals are a great alternative to wallpaper or paint. you can transform a room by just peeling and sticking. so if you get bored or tired of it you can change it in a year, a month or even a day.




how much fun is this kitchen? no more chipped china or broken plates.



each BLIK design is listed by degree of difficulty. this one for example, is easy peasy.


this one is a cakewalk,




for this one you may need to grab a pal.



here's one that's not easy - not tough. i think i'm getting this one...a modern grandfather clock, without the herniated disc and the moving expense.




and last but not least, a worthwhile challenge.

as you can see there is quite a range of possibilities.and let's not forget about the price. most of the decals i have here are listed between $30-$55. You can't beat that.



you can also use them on floors or chairs





or hang one from the ceiling ... like this chandelier design. think of the money you'll save not having to hire an electrician.
