Cranky Mom's house now opens to the outside

i have spent years loathing this window and crappy slider that doesn't lock without a stick! they aren't even at the same height. Moises is starting the process to get rid of them. i am so excited.

Marco had to build this support that is actually holding up this part of the house. we had to get rid of a vertical support beam and put in a horizontal one to prepare for the LARGE set of LaCantina doors that will open acordian style making our living room open up completely to the outdoors. cool!

holy crap! there they are! i love them just like this but....

they can do more! now we can throw the ball to Rufus while sitting on our butts indoors...just kidding.

PS doors have clear glass. as seen from indoors above they are taped up for protection.

SNEAK PEEK!

Dunkle, i know your computer is down right now but i can't wait for you to check it out. the doors are going in and changing everything. Bob came over and had oodles of ideas for phase II, III, and IV. that is one of the things i love about him - amazing ideas pour out of him non stop. i'm loving it all and want to cash in Grace and Quinn's college fund - won't do it though, i promise!

Quinn, of course, is madly in love with the whole process. here he is posing with one of the many tools that are currently littering my yard.

cranky mom abscesses about doors for remodel

Ok Dunkle. Next comes the doors for the back of the house and the inside too - now that we've made all those new passageways we have to decide on doors for some of them as well. Lorri and Bob, who own Ramirez Design Studio, actually have decided for me mostly. What they have at their home is pictured here and i thought i'd share it with you so you could see the house they completely redid (it was a dark Tutor in another life if you can believe it) and get a look at the doors that will soon be mine!

just like my house; from the front door you see straight through to the back doors.

these beautiful doors will be in my den, dining and library rooms.

i love this split door idea of Lorri's. maybe i'll have this in the entry to the guest room.

these doors go to Bob and Lorri's downstairs powder room. great idea - the frosted glass gets more light into the room. also note fab hardware.

Remodel: Day Two - two more doorways

New door way to your guest room! it also lets in more light to the entry.

Remember Harold and the Purple Crayon? that's what this looked like as Reyes sawed through the drywall.

pre sawing...from the dining room

and the den.

Reyes.

look at all that light!

Dunkle! check this out! you are not going to recognize this house. it's so great to have light coming in from so many directions. next step is getting the LaCantina bifold doors ordered for the living room. when they open up the whole room will be open to the out doors.

harried, cranky mom decides to remodel/LA

Day one: i'm going to really like this. the whole house feels different! my talented friends Lorri and Bob Ramirez at Ramirez Design Studio based in Santa Monica are spearheading this. they have a plan to make my home amazing. we will be opening more passage ways to change the flow of the house and create an open floor plan. more demolition tomorrow.
