probably the hottest spot: In God We Trust. great clothes. playing great music- Jens Lekman. adorable sales girl who shared so much city info including restaurant tip; Moto on Broadway and Hooper in Williamsburg where we MUST go next trip. her bf owns it and she performs there as does Nicole Renaud (the french woman dressed like a mermaid who plays the accordion and sings-not to be missed. we saw her years ago at La Luncheonette).
spring coming to NY. found on our way to Nolita.
Coclico. 275 Mott. great shoes. got into a shoe frenzy with complete stranger. she was trying on the perfect wedgie sandal (apparently she had tracked them down on the internet to this store). then i had to try. cute, sexy and comfortable. sold! lucky for us there was exactly two pairs left in our size.
Do Kham. 51 Prince. almost to Soho now. getting crowded. gotta go. but this shop is a must do on every trip.
resting. we found some good stuff. mostly by young designers. NO CHAIN STORES HERE! we like this. that is why we bypass soho now. one person told us that Nolita shops are closing (rents getting jacked up) and moving elsewhere.
meatpacking. mostly because of Pastis and Auto we have to visit this area. besides it was close to our hotel (Abingdon Guest House, which i don't recommend - too noisy).
So there you have it. NY downloaded. of course there was so much more. drinks with friends on a sunny sidewalk cafe (Dublin in the west village), sitting in the grass of Central Park, visiting MAD (museum of arts and design on Columbus Circle), amazing food at Raouls and Cafe Cluny and very late night drinks at the Tavern on Jane.
